Domino Duel is an online simulation that covers three popular games of dominoes (i.e., Classic, Fives and Block). The player must win several rounds against the game to earn one of three match scores (i.e., 50, 100, or 150) first. They also attempt to earn achievement rewards.
After the player chooses a mode, they select the gear icon and a score goal. Across all modes, the player takes turns placing tiles (i.e., bones) with matching dots (i.e., pips) end to end on a tabletop. If they have a double tile with two matching squares, they can place it next to a table tile with the center line touching the end. If the player has no moves in Classic and Fives modes, they must draw from a separate pile (i.e., stock or boneyard), which adds tiles to their hand.
With Classic, the player must get rid of their hand first across each round. If they win a round, they win the total number of pips in the game's hand. With Fives, the player receives points every time the open ends of a played double tile or end-to-end tiles result in a five or multiples of five. Even if the player loses the round, they keep their points.
With Block, the player tries to force the game to pass each turn so they can get rid of their hand first or achieve a no-move outcome. When they win a round, their score equals the total number of pips on the remaining tiles in the game's hand. During a no-move outcome, the player or game wins depending on who has the smaller number of remaining pips.
