Doc Honeyberry Kitty Surgery is an educational, career-simulation game in the makeover and dress-up category. The player is tasked with helping a veterinary surgeon, Doc Honeyberry, treat a kitty that ate spoiled fish and then walked into the path of a little girl on a kick scooter.
The player assists the doctor by performing tasks related to veterinary medicine, such as removing debris from the cat, cleaning it and treating different conditions. For example, the player must treat inflamed areas, scrapes, wounds and broken bones.
The game teaches the player about the tools a real veterinarian or veterinary surgeon might use in a similar situation. It also includes unrealistic-yet-fun minigames that replace more complex real-world tools and treatments. For example, during surgery, the player must complete a broken bone puzzle, help an anthropomorphic bone find its way out of a maze, and blast germs that float out of an incision.
Beyond providing the cat with healthcare, the player gives it a fun makeover. They can change the color and pattern of the kitty's fur, its eye color and dress it up in a top, shorts, boots and headgear. If the player can't decide on a look, they can use a randomizer button labeled with a die and three question marks to change the cat automatically.
Doc Honeyberry Kitty Surgery also offers rewards for completed achievements. For example, the player receives recognition when they kill flies, clean away dirt and sticks, finish a shower, and complete the minigames.
