Cuddle Monster Fusion is an untimed Suika-style merge game that features cute cuddly monster-shaped stuffed animals instead of fruit. The player must evolve 10 types of monsters to create a special giant one known as Fluffzilla.
Most Suika (Watermelon) games feature some sort of container. Instead of using a rectangular bag or box, the player pairs and merges identical monsters inside a classic childhood claw machine.
The player uses a preview of the next available cuddle monster in the upper-left area as preview to guide their decisions. They repeatedly drop different monsters into the machine with a claw.
Cuddle Monster Fusion makes play difficult in several ways. It distracts the player with falling blue and white snowflakes against wallpaper printed with cuddle monsters.
It also makes it hard for the player to complete evolutions. For example, the initial monsters are smaller than later ones. The machine can't hold many at a time either. The game ends if the player allows the monsters to stack up even a little bit over a dashed horizontal line that's a lot lower than the top of the container.
That said, the game offers several workarounds. If the player is willing to view videos, they can select a higher-evolution monster to move the merges along faster. It also allows them to shrink monsters. Lastly, the player can use push options to move the monsters into new positions on the left and right of the machine.
