Cube in Cube is a merge game with 2048 play mechanics. On a tiered platform, the player directs colored cubes marked with numbers to jump in different directions on steps. Their primary goal during play is to merge identical cubes to create higher-numbered ones.
The game features a rescue mode and an endless mode. With the rescue mode, the player tries to save a person inside of a large cage hanging above flames. To come to the aid of this person on each level, they must earn enough points by merging matching cubes to meet goal requirements in the upper-left corner. With the endless mode, the player tries to merge the cubes for as long as possible and earn the highest score. If they perform well, the game displays their score on the main screen next to a trophy.
Cube in Cube allows cubes to jump up, down, left and right on the steps of the platform. When two matching cubes merge, the pieces create a higher-numbered one. For example, two 16 cubes create a 32 cube. If the player attempts to make one jump to an empty step, they lose points. Over time, the game also adds extra cubes to the platform.
Ultimately, the player should attempt to merge cubes to reach the elusive 2048 cube and then merge beyond that number to see just how high they can go.
