Crazy Bubbles is a bubble-shooting game that features glossy, colored bubbles. The player's goal is to clear bubbles from the playfield. They can only remove three or more matching ones in a cluster at a time, and any non-matching ones hanging from each cluster. They must never allow the bubbles, which slide down the screen, to reach a dashed horizontal line above the shooter area. With each removal of bubbles, they receive points.
As with other shooters, the player uses matching projectiles to create the clusters. The game doesn't give them a traditional shooter. Instead, they either position their cursor on a specific spot and shoot or direct the shot with a pointer line made of dynamic bubbles that become progressively smaller toward the point. When the player forms a cluster, the matching bubbles shrink and disappear, and any non-matching ones fall away like an avalanche and disappear.
Crazy Bubbles makes play hard in several ways. Some bubbles vary only by a slight change in the shade of a color, which sometimes makes it difficult to shoot accurately. For example, this happens often with blue-colored bubbles.
Like real bubbles, the bubbles in this game move and bounce back slightly when impacted by a projectile bubble. Additionally, points don't accumulate rapidly, which might frustrate any player who feels they've been playing a long time with little reward.
When the player fails to make a productive shot a specific number of times, a row of new bubbles drops onto the screen. They receive only five opportunities, represented as silver bubbles, to fail when attempting to make a cluster.
