Cool Balls is a bubble shooter with a unique 2048 merge element. The player uses a yellow cannon to shoot colorful, numbered bubble ball projectiles into a container set against dynamic gas clouds in space. With every shot, they attempt to create higher-numbered bubbles by merging matching ones. They also attempt to earn coins to buy boosters and play as long as possible.
The player shoots the first projectile into the empty container. The bubble ball floats to the top. The player then shoots additional ones. They can see a preview of the next five projectiles at all times to the right of the shooter. With this information, they can plan out their shots to increase their merge potential.
As with other bubble shooters, Cool Balls uses a force at the top of the container to push any bubble balls in it toward a red horizontal penalty line at the bottom. If the balls touch this spot, the game ends.
To prevent this outcome, the player must shoot enough consecutive times to build up energy that can destroy one of several gray platforms driving the downward action. After they earn enough coins, they can also purchase a booster that removes every platform with one move. The game allows them to access this booster by viewing a video.
The player tracks their gold and silver coins in the lower-right area above the preview projectiles.
