Connect Dots: Match 3 Puzzle is a misnamed connect-style matching game with a constellations theme. The player completes tasks by collecting dots on one or more whiteboards across 50 levels. They must complete the tasks for a level within a specific number of moves. They then win up to three gold stars and embossed star coins.
The game displays one or more boards per level in different shapes and sizes. It is misnamed because the player doesn't need to match three or more dots when drawing their constellation-like lines, as seen with match-3 games. Instead, they can connect two or more color-matched dots. If they use boosters, they can even remove non-matching dots.
Connect Dots: Match 3 Puzzle features various challenges. Although the player can often create long chains and clusters of matching dots, some levels have gaps in boards or multiple small boards that make collecting a large group of dots nearly impossible. Additionally, some levels feature dots that have tiny arrows that require the player to draw lines in specific directions.
Thankfully, the game also features four helpful boosters. The player can use a pencil booster to collect up to 20 dots of any color. They can collect a chain or cluster of dots of a single color by selecting one dot with the eraser tool. With a pipette tool, they can collect all dots of one color. Lastly, they can use a bomb to collect all dots within a specific radius.
The player also enjoys the ability to perform trick moves. For example, if they draw a right-angle triangle, the game removes all color-matched dots.
