Color Hoop Sort is a sorting game that features play similar to kids' sorting games designed to teach children about colors, patterns, sorting and shapes. From level to level, it displays gray plastic pegs that contain a mix of doughnut-shaped rings (hoops). The player sorts the donuts back and forth across the pegs until each peg contains a stack of identical ones.
The player can only transfer a ring to an empty peg or atop a matching ring. As with other sorting games, this one makes play more challenging for the player by offering a limited number of empty pegs to start and increasing the number of colors and patterns to sort over time.
That said, the player can undo moves, add extra pegs to the field, and use a level refresh. Although some of these options are free at the start, the player must view ad videos to use undo moves and extra pegs over time.
Color Hoop Sort makes play more enjoyable by auto-transferring selected single rings and mini-stacks. This process removes the monotonous manual dragging process required by similar games. For example, if the player selects a mini-stack of two red rings, the game transfers both, as long as the receiving peg has enough space.
The game also doesn't penalize the player for selecting a mini-stack when the nearby peg has limited space. With the two-ring example, the game auto-divides the mini-stack and transfers only one ring onto a peg that has space for only one.
