Color Challenge is a casual skill and visual challenge game. The player attempts to select a square on a 5x5 grid that's a slightly different shade of a specific color than the other squares.
The game features normal and timed modes. On a home screen that features squares of different sizes floating in the background, the player selects the Play button to access the mode buttons. With Normal mode, they try to earn as many points as possible by playing for as long as possible. With Timed, they try to make selections with only five seconds available per pick for as long as possible.
When the player selects the correct square, the game presents them with a new grid that displays an overall different color and one non-matching square. Over time, the game makes the challenge more difficult by making the shade of the different square almost exactly the same color as the rest.
Human eyes can experience a problem with a darker color overwhelming a slightly different lighter one when a person stares at a pattern for too long. As a result of this phenomenon and the game's increasingly complex shade variations, the player might experience difficulty "seeing" the one non-matching square.
Color Challenge cancels the mode whenever the player selects the wrong box or runs out of time. It then offers a free restart. That said, the player can also view an ad video to continue play.
