Classic Sudoku Puzzle is a logic game based on the classic Sudoku found in offline newspapers. The player can participate in either levels or Daily Challenge play across Easy, Medium and Hard difficulty levels. The board consists of a 9x9 grid of horizontal rows and vertical columns arranged into nine 3x3 subgrids. Interactive blue numbers appear below the board. There are also Undo, Erase, Notes and Hint icons.
The player must add and arrange numbers on the board to complete the numbers 1 through 9 across each row and column without any overlap of numbers or a repeat of patterns within these lines or the subgrids. Every game starts with some numbers already in the correct positions. The player must use the interactive numbers to fill in the empty cells of the grid.
Classic Sudoku Puzzle isn't for the faint of heart. Although the game auto-fills additional correct numbers sometimes after the player completes a row or column, it also penalizes the player's mistakes. The player can make only five mistakes, as indicated via a tracker above the top center of the board. If they pass that number, they lose the game. They must then either watch an advertisement to continue or start over entirely. They can use the Hint icon to nudge them in the right direction. That said, they receive few hints unless they watch advertisements.
