Christmas Bubbles is a timed bubble-popping game with a Christmas and winter theme. Across 40 levels, the player removes colorful bubbles marked with white outlines of Christmas trees that hang in front of a winter outdoor scene with a cannon shooter. They don't have to remove every bubble. They only need to achieve specific scores per level.
The game displays the current level and changing score in the upper-left area above the scene. It displays the remaining time on the clock and goal in the upper-right area.�
The player pops bubbles by shooting color-matched projectiles from the cannon. They receive two projectiles that they can swap to make shots more efficient. They merely need to select the projectile in the holiday-decorated pot to the right of the cannon to swap it.
Christmas Bubbles has green, red and white striped candy cane side walls framing the scene. The player can bounce the projectiles off these walls at various angles toward the hanging bubbles. They also receive several boosters, including an explosive black bomb after so many consecutive hits that can take out any bubbles, such as ones wrapped in gold chains, and swirled striped bubbles that pop large swathes of matching and non-matching ones.
When the player doesn't shoot in a streak, the game penalizes them after five misses by sliding the bubbles toward a red and white dashed line above the shooter. Free passes appear as gold stars next to the snowman on the left side. The game helps the player prevent a penalty by intermittently offering bubbles on the playfield that contain extra stars.
