Car Paint is a casual painting game with brain test and sorting elements. Across levels, the player paints columns, rows and squares on parking lots to match completed pictures. They use paint-colored cars instead of paintbrushes. They must select the vehicles in the correct order to match each pattern. When they complete the task, they receive bursts of confetti and three stars.
Each level features an upper-center picture that shows how the pattern should look when the player finishes their work. In the center of the screen, the game displays a dark brown parking lot marked with black grid lines. Cars are parked on one or more sides of the lot facing the left, right, top or bottom edges.
The player must first consider how the cars might paint the grid squares in an order that ends with a pattern that matches the picture. All cars drive in a straight line from edge to edge. As a result, any car movement across the lot creates a band of paint on all squares along an edge-to-edge vertical or horizontal path.
If the picture, for example, features a one-color square in a corner, then the player must paint it first. They then select a different vehicle to cover up the other squares in that column or row with another paint color.
Car Paint offers a free reload button marked with a semi-circular back arrow in the upper-right area. The player can use it whenever they make a critical mistake. The game removes all paint and allows them to start over.
