Butterfly Kyodai HD is a high-definition version of the popular, connect-style match game that features a wide variety of butterfly wings on a stone grid board in the middle of a pool of water. The player's goal is to clear every wing from the board by matching them in pairs. The game makes the process more difficult with timed play.
If the player fails to remove every pair of wings before time runs out, then they lose the game. The player can only pair matching wings that are next to each other on the interior or edges of the board or that aren't blocked by any non-matching wings. The first wing selected glows white and pulses in its spot on the board before the player matches it with a second one. When they successfully match a pair of wings, the wings slide together to form a butterfly.
Butterfly Kyodai HD offers two tools that help the player find the matches on the board. With the magic wand button, the game selects two matching wings, highlights them with green and makes them pulse in their spots. With a double-arrow button, the game rearranges all the wings to provide the player with more matching opportunities.
