BubbleSquad is a casual bubble-popping game that offers a non-traditional form of play and elements similar to Zuma games. The player attempts to protect a central shooter and eight blue shields on a grid from bubbles sliding along on a square spiral track. They also attempt to collect special power-ups and earn a high score.
The bubbles slide in a counterclockwise or left direction. The player shoots a projectile from the semi-transparent shooter at a group of adjacent matching bubbles to create a cluster of three or more bubbles. When the bubbles pop, the remaining ones in the train reverse in a clockwise or right direction. The game automatically pops three or more of any bubbles that slide across gaps into matching ones.
BubbleSquad offers several power-ups. If a shield fails and disappears, the player can restore it by shooting a cluster that contains a bubble marked with a shield. Bubbles with round pink bombs blow up clusters of mixed-color bubbles.
The game also offers special bubbles marked with gold stars. After the player collects enough stars in the lower-left corner, they can replace the main projectile with the next one inside the shooter, stop a bubble from moving, and destroy all bubbles of one color.
The player can check their score in the upper-left area. If they close the tab at any time, the score resets. That said, the game retains the star count.
