Bubble Shooter XP takes basic Bubble Shooter to the next level. The player's goal is to clear all bubbles from the board and earn a high score. This new version allows them to play increasingly difficult levels and make extensive customization decisions.
The game features a classic light purple background and rows of bubbles that look like drops of wet paint. That said, the player can use the setup menu to adjust the color of the board and switch to colored flat circles marked with different types of icons.
The player uses a purple arrow shooter to shoot bubbles at rows of hanging bubbles to create connected clusters of three or more identical ones. They earn the most points, displayed near the lower-right corner, for large clusters and the removal of avalanches of non-matching bubbles connected to the clusters. They receive a preview of the next projectile bubble near the lower-left area of the board.
Bubble Shooter XP features several new and improved difficulty levels (Green, Yellow and Red). If the player fails to remove a cluster with a shot, they receive a penalty, as indicated by the disappearance of a silver bubble from a group of five to the right of the preview bubble. Initially, with basic Green play, they receive a penalty of one extra row dropping onto the screen after five failed shots.
With Yellow, the number of rows depends on the number of remaining colors on the board. With Red, the number depends on the number of remaining colors and the previous number of dropped penalty rows.
