Bubble Royal is a bubble shooter that features a fantasy animal rescue theme and a room renovation element. A king wants to turn his kingdom into a better place. He needs the player's help to pop bubbles on playfields to defeat villains, rescue dragons, and earn enough stars to renovate rooms in his castle. The player can also earn coins, points, boosters and special titles.
The player uses an arrow shooter and swappable projectiles to form and break chains of three or more identical connected bubbles. They can also pop bubbles via avalanche and booster play. An avalanche drops and breaks non-matching bubbles below a popped cluster. Common boosters include bombs that blow up bubbles in a circular zone and drones that act like spinners.
The king gives the player three passes when they fail to hit and break clusters of bubbles. He shows how many chances they have left with his fingers in the upper-right area. When the player inevitably misses four times, he slides one or more additional rows onto the field.
The renovations in Bubble Royal begin in the castle library. The player can use their stars to install books, a carpet, curtains, a desk, plants and other items. When they finish the room, a new one unlocks.
