Bubble Guriko is a bubble-popping game that offers new elements to classic gameplay. A villain named Cosmos has decided to take a vacation on islands inhabited by a race known as the Gurikos. When baby Gurikos eat his strawberries and drink his beverage, he traps all of them in bubbles. The player helps the parents by completing bubble-popping tasks to reach the babies across more than a 100 levels.
As with most bubble-shooting games, rows of connected, mixed bubbles hang from the top of a field. The baby Gurikos in bubbles are trapped throughout the pattern. Unlike other games, there is no arrow, cannon or ring "shooter" that the player uses to shoot a projectile bubble from the bottom of the field. Instead, they select a bubble produced by Cosmos and his magical staff that floats up toward the rows and then a separate, shadow target next to two or more matching connected bubbles.
Bubble Guriko features booster bubbles as well. The player can use a catapult bubble to pop hard-to-reach bubbles, a rainbow bubble to shoot any color or type of bubble and a ray bubble to take out a horizontal row of bubbles. They buy additional boosters with strawberries.
The player receives points and stars as rewards. They also receive XP for achievements, such as rescuing a certain number of baby Gurikos, collecting a certain number of stars and unlocking specific boosters. Lastly, they can connect with other players on Facebook.
