Blocktastic is an endless block puzzle game. The player attempts to earn the highest score possible by creating and destroying 8-block rows and columns on an 8x8 board. They also attempt to earn stars and achievement trophies. The game tracks the stars on the left side of the playfield under the points area. It tracks the trophies on a screen accessible via a trophy button in the upper-left corner.
The player creates the 8-block lines with polyomino shapes. They receive the shapes in sets of three to the right of the board. To create a line, they start by positioning the shapes on the board. They receive more points if they create partial lines and then finish multiple ones with a single shape.�
Blocktastic makes gameplay difficult in various ways. For example, it uses a textured board and blocks that blend in with the empty spaces. It also randomly offers at least one block in a set that the player can't place without first destroying one or more lines.
The game randomly places stars on blocks. The player collects one or more stars when they complete a line that has these blocks. It also rewards stars as a bonus after the player performs a certain number of achievement tasks, such as combination moves and line destruction streaks. After the player earns enough stars, they can purchase bombs and lightning bolts to remove unwanted blocks. They can also use a star to revive if they run out of space.
