Blocks 2 is a logic-puzzle game that offers a unique twist on match-3 play. In a world that features artwork similar to the popular Red Ball series of games, the player must attempt to rearrange separated and stacked anthropomorphic square blocks made of earth, metal, sand, stone, wood and other materials to create matches of three or more blocks. Their goal is to clear all blocks from grassy areas and other environments across dozens of levels.
The player receives access to the first three levels. The first stage of the game has 20 levels total. To unlock the other levels and move on to the next stage, the player must determine the best ways to rearrange the blocks. Typically, they use a slide or swap maneuver. If they perform well, the next level unlocks. They also receive a star. After they collect enough stars, the next stage opens up.
Every play area in Blocks 2 has one or more green dots and a star at the top-center of the screen. The dots represent the available number of moves for the level. In some areas, the player receives only one move. If they fail to match and destroy all blocks on that level, they lose the star. The game sometimes unlocks the next level, even if the player fails to earn a star. Either way, it allows them to retry at any time.
