Block Chain 2048 is a merge game that features endless and levels modes. The player's primary objective across both modes is to merge two or more matching blocks to create higher-numbered ones and earn high numbers of coins, points and stars.
With the endless mode, the player evolves blocks to meet specific evolution numbers. The game displays the task as cargo on a train positioned on a track above the play area. For example, the player's first goal might be to create a 128 block. After the block forms, the train leaves and a new one appears with the next goal. The player also attempts to earn the highest possible score in the upper-center area. If they quit and come back later, they attempt to beat their last score, which the game shows next to a gold crown in the upper-left corner.
The levels mode involves timed play and additional goals. Instead of attempting to earn a score, the player tries to collect items represented as icons on some blocks to meet a goal displayed on a train as cargo. Common items include money bags, chests, crowns, hearts, medals, pillows, trophies and wizard's hats. The only way the player can collect the items is by merging blocks. With this mode, the player also works to collect enough stars to construct a room on the home screen and unlock new locations.
With both modes, Block Chain 2048 offers boosters as well. The player can swap two blocks with the double arrows button and destroy a single block with the hammer button. They must pay for access to these tools with coins. Although they earn coins as winnings, they also receive money every time they create a higher-numbered block and when they watch advertisements.
