Block Blaster Puzzle is a block puzzle game that features levels with targets instead of endless play. The player's goals are to complete tasks and earn the most points per level by aligning polyomino shapes to create eight-block columns and rows on a dark blue board with an 8x8 grid.
The player receives three shapes below the board and grid in a set. They must use the entire set before new shapes appear on the screen. They track their task near the top of the screen above the play area. Common tasks include meeting specific points and block goals. The player earns the most points when they perform combo moves in which they complete lines in a streak or multiple lines with one shape and one move. They complete block goals when they collect a specific number of one or more blocks decorated with icons, such as red hearts and water droplets.
Block Blaster Puzzle penalizes the player when they run out of space on the board to place shapes. When this occurs, they can revive their play at the point where the game ended by viewing an advertising video. They can also replay the level from scratch. Thankfully, the game doesn't bump them back to the first level.
