BBQ Sort Puzzle is a timed match-3 sorting game that features food grilled to perfection in large cuts or on skewers. The player must sort the food into three matching pieces per grill to serve it to customers. They must sometimes also fulfill rush orders on a separate timer.
For the player's efforts, the game auto-plays a slot machine that rewards them with cash, boosters and new food items. They also receive treasure chests for completing certain tasks.
On each level, the game displays a number of grills with different foods barbecued using popular Asian recipes. Common foods include beef, broccoli, chicken legs, short corncobs, whole crabs and shrimp, eggplant, green peppers, pineapple sections, pork slices and bacon, and spiral potatoes.
The player must sort three identical pieces onto a grill. The game then transfers the food to a salt-and-serve zone in the upper-right area. The player can only sort pieces onto empty grills or a space on a grill's rack next to other food. If they're willing to view videos, they can open additional empty grills.
BBQ Sort Puzzle adds more food items from cutting boards to the grills after the player matches three pieces. As a result, the player must often rearrange items to empty a grill and prompt the game to transfer food from a board.
The game offers boosters at Level 3, Level 5, Level 10, and Level 15. For example, the player can use the Level 3 booster to auto-collect three matching pieces. The Level 5 booster shuffles pieces on the grills.
