2248 Blast is a merge puzzle game in the 2048 subcategory with a connecting-line element. The player connects two or more number-matched bubbles in a drop zone of columns and rows to create higher-number bubbles. Their goals are to evolve the bubbles for as long as possible, earn coins and points, unlock new levels and backdrops, and obtain gifts.
A 2248 bubble never forms in the drop zone. Instead, the number provides the player an example for creating a merge chain with matching pairs. In a part of the zone that has 2, 2, 4 and 8 bubbles in adjacent positions, a manual connecting line drawn across the numbers merges the two 2 bubbles to form a 4 bubble that merges with the connected 4 bubble to create an 8 bubble. The player can draw a line across adjacent merge-capable bubbles in left, right, up, down, diagonal and across-the-line directions.
2248 Blast provides three boosters below the drop zone. These tools allow the player to remove one bubble at a time, swap the positions of two selected bubbles, and shuffle all bubbles into new positions. The game also randomly prompts them to auto-evolve, or double-up, a single bubble. If the player runs out of moves for any reason, it simply pops bubbles at random to make enough new ones drop into the gaps to allow continued play.
