1010 Gems Deluxe is a block puzzle game that features a 10x10 play area. The player's goal is to create 10-block columns and rows with polyomino shapes. Instead of using blocks made of plastic, wood or other materials, the player uses square-cut gemstones. A shape might contain pieces of amber, amethyst, diamond, emerald, garnet, jade, quartz, ruby, sapphire or other precious gems.
The player receives a set of three shapes below the grid. They must use all shapes before the game gives them another set. They position the shapes to create the lines along grid columns and rows. When they complete one or more lines, the game removes the pieces and assigns points in the upper-left area. If the player performs well, they can earn the highest all-time score.
1010 Gems Deluxe doesn't make the player start over entirely if they run out of moves. It first gives them an option to continue their current play. They merely need to watch an advertisement video. If they refuse to watch, they start over with the goal of attempting to achieve a higher score than their last game. The game places the last score next to a large gold crown in the upper-left corner. It displays and updates the current score at any given time below this area.
